Hi all, I am new to this forum.
I had a starter failure and have purchased a new starter to replace it. I seem to have run into a big problem. There are two bolts/nuts to hold it in place but on this tractor one side has a hidden nut in the flywheel housing (which I had a heck of a time getting loose). Now that I want to but the bolt back in place the nut is nowhere to be found (Probably some where in the flywheel housing) with no way get it back into place. Seems to be a bad design but there must be some kind of trick to it. Any one had this experience?

Thanks, Dave

Howdy Dave, welcome to the forum.

Actually, we encountered this problem on the Tractor Forum once before. He actually got it back together...he had to take the console off to get the bolt fastened!

PS: I would try to epoxy a nut in place. Screw the bolt into the nut and snug it up. Apply epoxy to the nut & housing and allow to sit 24 hrs till it is completely set up. Don't get epoxy onto the threads or you will have another experience.

Hi Dave , I'm trying to replace my starter on my 1994 ford 1620 and had no problem removing the lower nut but the top bolt is loose but just spins. I figured it had to have a nut behind it but why on earth would ford do that seriously.. But can you share what and how you removed yours and put it back on please. Jim/ Otisville,mi
