• I have just repaired the rear rim which was rotted out around the valve from the calcium chloride in the tubes. Replaced leaky tube and remounted tire. The other rim was in worse shape but the tube is still good so I slipped a heavy rubber boot inside the rim to protect the tube and a metal shoe to support the rubber. This will do till I get the time to demount the tire and weld in a proper patch. The question is, when I replaced the valve it wouldn't seal. The old valve was shot so I suspect the stems threads are rotted. Does anyone know of a valve restore kit with a tap and a slightly larger valve. Otherwise the valve cap actually makes a seal. Thanks
