If you're talking about the display windowyou rightclick the top of the window and click size. Then you 'grab' the bottom right corner of the frame & pull it out to the size you want. (You may want to grab the window & drag it up in to the left corner before you start - if it's not pinned there already).

Many windows applications will remember the size they were when you closed them last and use that size the next time you reopen them.

Also, you can click on the button in the upper right corner next to the "X" to maximize, of just double-click on the title bar of the window.

If you go to the start menu and click down to the individual applications (such as Word) and then do right-click and choose properties (instead of launching it), you will see an option under "Shortcut/Run:" that will allow you to set up it's personal default when you click on it.

I thought that there was a setting that I could choose to have everything open maximum. Without having to do them one at a time.
