Lets go to the basics.
Get a volt meter..check your coil wires(small ones) on both sides with the key on. This will tell you if you have voltage to the coil/distributor. Depending on 6V or 12(conversion) you should be close to the battery voltage. Make sure the connections are clean and tight.
Get a wrench and an(EPA correct) coffee can and take the plug out of the bottom of the carburator. There should be a flow of gas.....let it run a minute to see if it slows or stops. If it stops you have one of the screens clogged. The fuel should run freely.
