What did I break?

I have a 1954 Ford Jubilee. I was using it to pull some small stumps out of the ground. The stump I was pulling on was around 6 inches in diameter. When I pulled on it I heard a load pop. Now the tractor will not move. Cranked it up and looked inside of the transmission cover and all seams to be working in there. I do not hear any grinding or rattling noises. If anyone can tell me what I may have broken and if there is anywhere I can look through an inspection hole Please let me know.

Hello Manuel,
Many possibilities. Broken axle. Broken pinion shaft. Sheared rivets on differential ring gear. Clutch disc broken/sheared from hub. Broken shaft in transmission Since you feel that everything is well thru the tranny, I'll attach parts diagrams of the rear end below:

I would guess a ring and pinion. I have a 53 NAA. Remove the seat, then remove the top cover of the rear end that holds the lift arms. Now you have a complete view of the entire driveline to check for broken shafts, gears, etc. not hard, but time consuming.

Does the pto still work?
If it still works that means it is not the clutch.
Pulling the lift cover will let you see what is wrong but you can't fix any of the possible failure points from there so I wouldn't waste my time pulling it. I've never owned/worked on an NAA but have read the pinion shaft carrier is a weak point on those.
I would remove the LEFT trumpet (axle housing) off then pull the differential out. That would let you see All of the most likely causes of failure.
