Looking for a Grain Drill or Seed Planter. Something that is reasonably priced. Just going to use it to plant food plots. Looking for something within 150 miles of Western Kentucky

Thanks,

Tau, you may want to look at a 3pt mounted broadcast seeder for foodplots, that way you can use it for fertilizing and some other chores as well.

Hey Partsman,

Thanks for the thought. I have one of those broadcast seeders but I tried to plant corn and soybean food plots last year and they didn't work very well.

Thanks,

Tau

OK,, we have used ours for oats and ryegrass, and found it to work well. Perhaps not so good with the bigger seeds?
What did you find to be the problem? Poor emergence, too much/little seed per acre?

Couldn't get it deep enough in the ground. It didn't come up. We ran a cull packer over it.

I don't really know what happened.

THanks,
Tau

OK, I've never planted corn or soybeans, so I'm not familiar with what they need. Broadcast is ok for things that don't need much soil cover. The bigger seeds likely need more earth over them.
Thanks for the explanation! Information is never a bad thing!!
