Just though I give my sincere thanks to all the Veterens that served honorably. You are not forgotten. If not for your sacrifices we would not enjoy the privilages we now have.

Hold your head high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You've earned it.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

memmurphy - Thanks for posting the artwork.

I was honored to be on the team of Servicemen that went to Hanoi over 31 years ago to bring home our POWs. I'm satisfied, based on special knowledge, that we likely still have some living buddies in Southeast Asia....small chance - but real.

This year's Veterans Day is special to me because of the election results and the defeat of a person I see as a traitor.

As a retired E-8 Air Force reserve (11 years active and 11 years reserve), I wish to thank you folks for remembering us. This is kind of a sad one for me this year after, pushing my great uncle in the annual Veterans day parade for the last 10 years, My uncle passed on this last December from old age (91), a great American, a D-day 1st wave troop, as he call himself. I will refrain from any political comments, it just doesn't fit the memories of the veterans past and present.

i echo all the good things said above.. having never served.. i have no idea how hard or what type of sacrifices you veterans.. and the fallen veterans have made...

im glad we have a day to honor them.. but i dont think we should 'need' a day to honor them.. they should be appreciated every day...
(i am not saying do away with veterans day, i am saying they should always be thanked.. every day)

My DEEPEST heartfelt thanks to ALL that served, so that my family and I can enjoy the freedoms we have today. I always try to make a special point to individually thank the vets I work with on this day, and the reactions I get, show me that is something worth doing. Most guys have seldom heard a thank you for what they did. My having spent time in some "less than free" places on earth, I feel I have to say thanks.:usaflag:

And thanks to our very long time Canadian allies that have served right beside us through most of our conflicts:canada:

Thanks to all Veterans from every country who stood by their country right or wrong. I was down at our cenotaph this morning. It's a big deal here since two of the last 6 guys Canada has lost on active duty were from our village. With my son back to batallion from the reserve unit, I hope it doesn't run in threes.

Was talking to a WW2 vet a few years ago (bought a tractor form him) who was walking with a cane. He mentioned he was getting a knee replacement due to schrapnel he got on D-day! This was 50+ years later!! He said that him and 4 of his brothers were in the Juno beach assault (Canadian beach on D-day), and all 5 made it home!!! I just found that truly amzing!!
