My wife wants me to build a couple wooden vegetable boxes (you know the ones with thin wooden planks --- approximate dimensions I was thinking --- 18-24" length by 12" width by ~4" height sides with raised middle section with large dowel across)
then stained dark wood color. Has anyone construction some of these relatively simple boxes? Any insight, wood choices, tips for this?

Thanks for answering my silly question of the day.
Bye

Definetly sounds like boxes to carry them in. Way to small to grow something in.

Andy...are you using these for transport out of the field or to a farmers market?

Andy.

How about goint to the lumber yard[now THERES a tearm thats almost dead huh?] and picking up some wood lath. Cut two end peices from a scrap peice of 1x lumber, and nail the lath between the two. I would cut the end peices a little on the U shaped side. More like a boat Xsection, then a tool box. I am guessing you could pop out 5-10 of these things in an afternoon, and hit up a flee market and make a mint.
