I've had my UTV for a few years it's mostly used a tool but also as a toy to just get out sightseeing in the woods and pastures.
These UTV's and ATV's are handy vehicles to get into a lot of places.
I just did a modification that really makes mine much nicer in the winter,
I had added a soft cab which stops a bit of the wind and slows down the rest which made it more comfortable in colder weather
but it was still cold.
I added a heater the other day what a difference that makes, the other day I was up in the woods with my nephew as he was doing some logging just to be around in the off chance of something going wrong. It was down in the low 20's outside but around 50 inside the soft cab.
I put in a chinese diesel fired air heater just a bit over $100. I have ordered some longer heat ducts now that I know it will work. It worked while parked and when driving in the woods and on the road while going back to my house at 35 mph.

My UTV, she is a large one will seat 3 across easily and 800cc twin for power.

Looks to me like you basically have a cheaper version of the Webasto heaters that semi trucks have used for sleeper heat for years.......They work very well but tend to clog up if not used frequently......Not sure how yours is but, the semi truck sleeper heaters are not that hard to clean the nozzle on them when they do clog up.....Yours is a lot cheaper in price then the Wabasto heaters....

As for your side by side, I looked at those and my question is, are they as much of a beast as they look like? I sold my John Deere Gator a couple of years ago and bought a used Can Am Commander 1000.....I have done a few mods to it, in the processes of changing out front wheel bearings right now, and I like it better then the Gator.....The bed is not as big as the gator was but it will fly......Tops out at 75 MPH........LOL We use it a lot on the farm and we also take it trail riding too so I guess you could call it both a tool and a toy.....

I bought a used JD Gator (camo finish) XUV550 about 6 years ago, a 2012 model. Love it!! It is a very useful machine. Everyone in the family uses it for various tasks. Made one change... I swapped out the mud tires for road tires. The mud tires gave a harsh ride on pavement. It has been wonderful!!

We have a couple of older mules on the farm, good work vehicles but slow when we road between farms or even different field and very limited suspension.
This has a lot of suspension and rides much better in rough fields and has good road speed. I've had it up to 45 mph and it has more, I normally run 30-35 on the roads.
But with the good suspension I can out run a cantankerous cow and with the steel body I have actually crowded a couple around.
Mine has DOT rated UTV tires when I have to change them out I may go for a more traction oriented tire. But she gets around good as it is.
It has a choice of 2 wd or 4 wd and then you can select front or rear diff locks or both.
Yes it is a much cheaper version of the Webasto heaters, they even make a water heater version that is tempting for tractor preheating.

I bought mine as a tool.

Its an early Kubota RTV 900

Will haul 2000# of rock/dirt in the bed and dump it. Has hauled many many yds of material. just shy of 500 hrs.

Its no speed demon...27mph downhill...17 up hill ..lots less in low range.

Its a 2K# machine...not a dune hopper...more of a tractor.

What was the reasoning for filling the tires? Do you run it in a wood lot? Must be a ruff ride.. B.

I just filled the fronts.

When I was demoing one of these back in 05 ish.

Hauling rock way out back. Had to turn around and back down a hill to dump.

Went to hit reverse and caught Nuetral....by then it had rolled a few feet and I Hit the brake pedal as these will only shift when completely stopped. Being on a slope with a load....The buggy rolled over backwards end for end. Dumped the load and I rolled out the side while it was on its lid. It continued to roll back onto its wheels and took off through the brush backwards coming to rest some 100' down the Hill against a Fir tree. Put a bit of a V in the tailgate but I fixed that. It was still running so I ventured down the Hill and hoped back in and drove it up and out. Back to the gravel pile for a somewhat smaller load. Used it all weekend and decided there pretty tough machines and Bought the Camo version the next week. So yeah the frontend can get light as the motor and trans are under the bed.

Wow!! Sounds like quite an experience.. I figured there was a reason. I've tweaked the dump hinge while dumping...but never noticed the frontend felt that light. Something to consider tho...good information. Glad you walked away!! B.

Mom picked up an 800cc CanAm 6 seater. It is a bit slow, but a nice machine. I live close to my place of work. I am thinking of picking up something for commuting. A golf cart might not manage the hills so well, so a SxS strikes me as the best solution. I was thinking maybe a toolcat actually, but they are a bit too slow and I imagine not very efficient cruising around.

If you have one you can never do without it again. Just sold my slow Trans-mule 3010 and got the CF Moto U force 1000xl . So far a great and powerful machine.

I bought a JD Gator 855 Diesel 5 years ago Great machine use it almost every day never any issue. In September we were gone for 8 days. Went to use it and would not start. Turned over good new battery this spring. Gave it a very small shot of starting fluid fired right off and started great all day. Next morning same thing no start. Filters all clean and free of dust. Still requires a shot of starting fluid each morning. Fuel is fresh. Anyone have idea what to check? I hate using starting fluid in any engine unless last resort

I know it has some type heater as there is indicator light for this.

Just watched a JD service youtube for this gator having same starting issue . There are 3 glow plugs. Appears to fairly straight forward to change out (If my back holds out bending over thus long).😆

Could be one of several different issues;
a control power fuse,
a relay,
glow plug controller.
It's unusual for all the glow plugs to fail at one time.

I agree. At somewhere around $30 each i would like to check other possibilities first. I will need to investigate where each of these are located. Fuse and/or relay should be simple enough. Not sure about controller. You happen to have wiring diagram or parts diagram? Thanks.
