A acquaintance of mine picks up and delivers new/repair tractors and equipment for a local dealer. If the owner of a new tractor has an old one that was not "traded in", for whatever reason, my friend can take it home if he wants and the owner agrees. He then repairs and sells them to supplement his income.
One day I asked him if he ever gets one he doesn't want, and is not a "basket case", I'd like to have it. He said he just happened to have one, no deck, and brought it by. The tractor ran good but smoked badly. Probably shot rings, but otherwise in very good shape. I need a "puller" tractor so I can put the mowing deck and bagger back on my "L1000". I will need to rebuild the engine.
Here are some pics of the tractor in various stages of "restoration".
As my friend brought it. The engine is a 15.5hp B&S IC with Turbo Cool. Look familiar Andy?

In various stages of disassembly. Lots of oil and grass clippings.

Since this will be a puller tractor only, for my cart, aerator, and spreader, all the deck associated hardware has been permanently removed. I also want a fun tractor to putt around on. I plan on giving it a completely different paint scheme and adding some "accessories"....
This is my first tractor restoration/small engine rebuild so I'm sure I'll have lots of questions.
