I was going to post this in Paul's thread but i didn't want to high jack it so i will start a new one.Speaking of tillers anyone know who made or sold this one of mine it just has Rocket on it. One of my trash finds it has a forward and reverse and works great.

According to other sites it was made by Ariens. Tell us more about the engine, make, model, hp etc.

Greg it has a 5HP Briggs i will get the model # tomorrow. It had points but i put Magnetron electronic module on it and got rid of the points.

OK Greg is is the model # for the motor model# 130292 type 1009-01 code 79102310. Here are some more pictures of it in one of the picture is the tag with the model# and serial#.

Jody,from the pics Id say its a Gilson tiller.
Gilson was the largest tiller manufacturer in the uS at one time. Most were private label brands like Western Auto,jC Penney,Montgomery-Wards,some of the Hardware buying groups,etc. Tillers were a particualr strength of Gilson and they made a good simple front tine tiller. Gilson ,of course was purchased by Lawnboy (when OMC owned them) and then the whole shooting match was bought by Toro (1988 or 89 if I remember right). I was sales manager for a distributor who handled Gilson (and other brands).... then Lawnboy.

Tillers were a part of the Gilson,Lawnboy and Toro lines in those years.......Gilson even private labeled some Homelite tillers at one time and bought walkbehind mowers from them (cast deck)..........whew what our industry has gone through the last 20 years.

Thanks Neil :thumbsup:its good to know a little history. Its a big tough tiller dont know why someone stuck it out to the trash. The gas tank and carb needed cleaning. Other then that there was nothing wrong with it.
