I am glad I asked the question and have learned a lot from this discussion. I have never run my engine at full throttle but will have to see what the RPM will be the next time I use it. What I do remember from the dealer when I bought it, keep the RPMs under 3,000 during the break in period he said was around 10 hours.

Ask 100 people on the "correct" break in procedure, and you'll get 100 different answers. I break mine in the way I'm gonna run 'em, which on a tractor is at WFO, (mower decks works best at full throttle as well, though some people will run them slower thinking they are saving something, hydraulic attachments is a different situation) just didn't sustain it under full fuel conditions. Vary the load, vary the rpm when possible, but mostly full throttle here. Runs fine, doesn't burn a lick of oil. Broke in a lot of engines over the last 60 years, had the same results every time.
