Awesome! I used to be an audiophile/videophile on a beer budget, so I'm not up on the latest stuff, but that seems mighty impressive. I'm not familiar with the speakers, are the the same brand, and how many? How do you like the Pronto remote?

That's kind of what I thought, but since I'm not too up to date on speakers, I wasn't sure.

On a 6.1 system you would have front L & R, Center, rear L & R and rear center, and a subwoofer. Where's the extra speaker on 7.1?

I don't have them all hooked up yet, but it is

front left and right
up top front left and right
center
sub
rear left and right
side left and right.

Not sure how that equates to 7.1, but the Yamaha receiver supports running all of those at once.

Here is my Yamaha receiver

There is an RF keyboard on the coffee table and a RF gyro mouse on the coffe table. The computer is on the front right between the tower and the right front speaker. For now, I am doing an adapter from the sound port to RCA to the receiver and I am doing a VGA connection on the back of the TV with HD resolution. I need to tweek the resolution some more with PowerStrip (software) to make the resolution better.

I will provide a better (brighter) picture of the stuff later... if I remember. It's fun to mess with this stuff. I am on version two of the wiring and nearing "final". Once I acheive final, I will re-wire it so that the wire behind is not such a mess. With all the equipment, there is many ways to hook things up. The first was to get everything working (phase 1). Phase 2 is to move things around so that I have better hookups, more logical hookups, etc. Phase 3 is to do final moves.

Phase 4 is.
- Document what is hooked where
- unhook everything
- put in wiring bundling systems to clean it up
- re-program the Pronto remote with final settings.

Phase 4 is a long process and more fun than LATTICE.

Found a brighter image. This picture is with an HD feed, but prior to me setting up the computer. To get an idea on the size.... from front left speaker to front right speaker it is about 16 feet.

Wow, nice setup Tuba.

Seems the seating is a little close with that huge screen and sound system. How big is the overall room? Good luck with everything ---

Cheers!

The seating area is about 20 by 25. The TV recommends optimum viewing in the 8 to 10 foot range. I love it that close, but most do not. My wife prefers 12 foot, I think the cockpit seat (most center front seat) is about 10 feet from the screen.

My sister and I watched a hockey game one night around 7 feet away. It was awesome, but it would freak most people out. When I have friends over for XBOX'ing, they make me move the coffee table out of the way and then bring the couches 2 or 3 feet closer. It does freak you out after a while.... a little sea sick :) I prefer the 8 to 10 foot range myself. Just enough that you have to move your eyes around a little to watch TV, but not have to move your head.

The room is not optimum for a true theater, but it does works very well. A better room is about 20 by 30 with hard walls all the way around and no windows. The basement is very open (about 1,700 sq feet), small workshop, large pool table area, a poker room, bar, playroom for the kids and a bathroom. Basically, the basement is mine, mine, mine. Well, the wife gets to decorate and come down there sometimes, but all in all, it's my play area.
