I love old pickup/work trucks. Even though I grew up during the muscle care era in the late 60's, I've always preferred pickup trucks. As a teenager back in the late 60's, all the guys I knew with a new camaro, mustang, or firebird were punk-ass rich kids and Daddy had bought them that awesome car. All the old farmers around me that I admired/respected were MEN and they could actually teach me something useful, give me a job, and they all drove pickup trucks. Maybe they got me to relating driving a pickup truck to becoming a man. In fact, I've just realized I haven't actually owned a car since I got out of the Army 45 years ago, so there may be some validity to that thought....

I stay in touch with some of my oldest friends on Facebook and today I came across a picture of a really nice looking old pickup. When I clicked on it, it took me to a FB page that features nothing but old trucks. I loved it and thought I'd share with some guys on this Forum that seem to love old trucks also. Here's the link and a picture of an unusual truck that is posted on that FB page as a teaser to the rest of the content and it's something you don't see every day. I wonder if that 1929 Colorado "Special Permit" has expired.....

Remember back in the day when you could actually tell the model year by the changes in the body style? I've always thought the '58 was the best of these......

One of the more obscure U.S. automotive brands was Crosley. The only actual Crosley I ever saw growing up was one of their rarest and weirdest models. Ever heard of, or seen, a Crosley "Farm-O-Road"?

Very small jeep-looking utility farm vehicle about the size of a Roof Palomino.... One of the old farmers that lived close by had one and it was cool as hell. Way more useful than today's side-by-sides. They only made them from 1950-1952 at their Marion, Indiana plant, so there were quite a few sold to farmers in and around Central Indiana, but probably no more than 2,000 were ever built

63" wheelbase, 1,100 lbs curb weight, 26.5Hp, but they were handy as hell on a farm because of all the attachments you could run. I'd love to have one today......

I've seen Crosley cars, but this is the first time I've ever heard of the Farm-O-Road. I had seen some early Willy's Jeeps factory equipped with 3 point hitches and PTO to drive implements. That was back when the UTILITY part of SUV was more important than the Sport part. Most folks today would NEVER take their $50K -$70K SUV out to plow a field and risk getting their leather seats dirty, or scratching up the clear coat on the Eddie Bauer Edition SUV.

If it wasn't for the $$$ involved, I'd be happy doing projects like this until I'm to old to do anything but sit in a chair and drool down my chin.....

I do like that Red and Black combo, especially how they did it with the black on the top as well. Better than a red track with black fenders, IMHO!

The more you look at this, the more you see how complex of a engineering job this became...... This is some serious fabricating talent.

Yep....... That's a "walk through" cab with what looks like a modified Rampage Soft Top for the rear passenger area. With this short of a wheel base, it leads me to believe, this thing is the combination of a 1st generation Bronco and late 70's F150

Chain drive, solid tires, spoke wheels and crossing a sketchy bridge with that load..... Damn them were some tough old boys back then

My Dad was a big Oldsmobile fan, I can't fault him for that....... He had a 1958 Olds 98 with the 371ci, J-2, "Tri-power". Good thing gas was $.30 a gallon, if you decided to give it a "Kick in the pants" and come in with all three 2-barrels

Not really..... Now you've got to deal with trying to bill that extra 45 minutes of labor to a customer that just had a rocker cover gasket slightly leaking

Fantastic looking museum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is really neat.........It is onsite at the Iowa 80 truck stop in Walcott, which is about 15 miles West of Davenport, IA on I 80......I have spent the night there many times but only had time to go to the museum one time and only had about an hour before it closed to go through it.....One of these days, I am going to make a trip out there and take all day......They also have this there every year.........Basically Sturgis for truckers........LOL

This is apparently a fad in Virginia and the Carolinas. In fact, it is called the Carolina Squat. Definitely makes me wonder WHY???????

One of the more uncommon pickups back in the day was the Hudson Terraplane. Bontai Joe is right....... You gotta love those art deco hood designs of the 30's and the side mount spares

I like ALL of the Hudson pickup trucks, but the '36 has that extra pizzazz that just makes my heart beat a little faster. My desire for one of these probably breaks at least one Commandment AND a Deadly sin as well. The '36 shown above is absolutely GORGEOUS!
