no oil pressure oliver 88

the motor has just been overhauled it starts and runs but no oil pressure. we took a screw out of the side of the block and pressurized the system using an oil tank with air the oil gauge showed 5lbs but after we took that off no oil pressure. we tested the pump before install and it pumped seemed to work any ideas as to what is wrong

It's been awhile since I messed with an Oliver.
My first thought is your oil filter, my 1550 required a filter with a restriction orifice in the center feed as that engine required a partial flow oil filter.
A full flow would screw right on but you would get no pressure as all the oil would dump right back into the case.

i had the filter mounting plate off while it was running
