NHTN65, water splashed intake and bent a rod, The piston looks OK its hard to see a crack,
and I have the means to measure out of tolerance inline with the new rod, but Im wondering what
an experienced diesel mechanic would do. I hate waiting again after buying the other parts but this is nagging me.
Ring set was $180, and another $180 it includes the piston. I should have ordered both I guess.
Thanks for any input.

Good Morning wingit,

I'm certainly not a diesel engine mechanic, but I can keep them running reasonably well. I would have replaced the piston as well...

I concur with sixbales... if there was enough pressure to bend the rod..then the integrity of the piston/rings may have been compromised also. Far cheaper to replace now while it's already apart. Better safe than sorry! B.
