i have had this prob since i bought the tractor. it would run for a while and than would not start. i thought it was the battery, but today i took it off the charger and started it, than i took the cable off the battery and it died. so it's not the battery it's something else. i took the alt in and they said it was ok. all the wires are hooked up, at least i think they are. it has a 12 volts system so i don't know what to do about this prob.

Is it an alternator or a generator?
Did you use a voltmeter to check the output at the battery? Could be bad wiring.

Boy that could be a tough one. When you get a tractor that someeone already did the 12v swap on, you NEVER know if they did it right.

First check ALL the wires. Make sure the grounds are all good, and no loose, or frayed wires. Next someone just posted a wiring diag in the last few days of the 12v swap. Check it out to see if it is all hooked up right.

It will take some doing, but if you take your time, and break it all down, you should figure it out.
