Ok let me preface this by saying i do not have kids... love them but never really had much of a desire to have them.. so dont call me pathetic...

heres a pic of my dog.. Cassius, she turned 10 today...

<img src=http://www.tractorforum.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=41793>

shes still a wicked puppy runs like mad all the time.. but shows a few signs of aging.. the gray hairs of course and sometimes after running she will be a little lame.. arthritis i'm told.. plus her eyes show a few signs of glaucoma but all in all she's done and doing great....

I remembered she was born around now and looked it up yesterday... found out that today she turned 10... those who have and love dogs.. know how it is...

Ive worked out of the house for the past 6 years so she is basically my dog and my office buddy...

great dog..

there is no question, in my mind.. to me, i prefer to deal with my dog over most people.. your dog is always there for ya, always thrilled to see ya.. never a complaints.. ever...

heres a pick from 4 years ago...
besides for the gray, she looks about the same.. always been thin and muscular.. she lives off of pasta and pork chops practically..

she has just aquired a taste for beer... if she's anything like me.. now that she discovered beer.. she may not look so fit and trim...

gotta love labs...

Jody we are thinking about getting a dog like yours.... My lady wants a cat... i want dogs so your little mophead is a good compromise.. our neighbor has one and its a sweet little dog..

Agree: Cass is great with kids... really gentle and just loves them but protective? i dont know.. i think you could come in and club me to death... then my dog (if she woke up) would probably try to go home with you...

Very friendly.. except around other dogs...

good dog...

Alice is the same way..tolerant of other dogs as long as they don't keep sticking their nose where it doesn't belong...then she bites them..

Charlie always lays down between me and a strange dog, waiting for me to say okay...

They both love children and play for hours:D

Nice dogs guys! I still miss our springer at times. I think I'll probably get another springer. Although I keep tossing around the idea of getting a st. bernard. I would have to expand the old dog house a bit. :D Bought the pure breed springer for $20 from the humane society. She was about a year old and too much pep for her original owners.

When I was a tyke we had a boxer...Mom & Dad said they had to put the dog outside before they could scold us because she would protect us... They ended up getting rid of the dog because my brother an I required a tremendous amount of reprimanding:lmao:

If you're looking into a bernard, a Great pyrenees or GP mix might be right for you too. The Great Pyres and SB's are actually very closely related. Just remember, big poop :)

I keep looking at this site, I just worry about some of the rescued dogs having issues.

http://www.springerrescue.org/

We got our springer from the pound, via foster care. Someone got her as a pup and kept her for about 8 months and then turned her in. They said they couldn't take care of her, she kept getting out when their infant brat opened the door...Duhhhhhhh!

We got her, bed, food, leash, nail clippers all for the grand total of $51 tax title and tags out the door! Not to mention she had her little surgery so no puppies. In a way I am glad, I never would have gotten rid of them if she had some. We got our Basset hound from a rescue place here and she is a whole new story!!!! :D

We got this big fella from the pound! I cant believe someone would bring such a beautiful dog but they did. He was under a year at that time, a pure bred English Mastiff and is the most affectionate giant I have ever seen....he loves me to no end and I to him...
I left my face out because its all about the dog -and I wouldnt want the attention anyway :)

The Black lab is also the most sensitive creature and I adore him as much if not more....he must be treated better because of jealousy, and he is.....but not by much but he dont know that ;)
