Well finly got around to getting my badly needed brushcutter.

Got back from Tractor Supply sunday afternoon, and started putting her together. With some help from me new air compressor, and impack gun, it was assembled in les then an hour, then with some juckying around with the old N got it hooked up, and off the trailer. Still have to hook up the PTO shaft, and make sure it fits and does not need to be cut down.

While I was there I also grabbed a overrunning clutch, and was looking for swaybar brackets, but they did not have them. I will have to surch around a bit. So I am hoping to have it all set up for next weekend, and as long as the snow holds off, maybe get some of the brush cleared in a few barts of my land.

Weee HAaaa/

BTW, my lift must be pretty good on the old girl. After sitting all night, It has dropped some, but still sitting quite a bit off the floor. THATS good anyway.

Let us know how you like that cutter. I have been toying with the idea of a 6' by KK.

And YES, your lift is in good shape if it held it up all night!

Ya I have a lot of twiggy/saplin type brush. I was kinda waiting for the winter becouse all the leaves are gone, and I can see better. Plus it keep the buggys down.

Hey Paul ,
The King Kutter looks good behind the N , I wish my hydralics were as good as yours , about 1 hour is what mine dose .
I hope you install some kind of safty guard at the back of your tractor seat. Got a freind that caught a piece of wire in his spine.
Be careful with the new toy .

Don,

She stayed up almost a full day. Cant beat that for a tired old N.:) I got home from work yesterday and it was JUST lightly touching the floor. Granted that is with cold, new gear lube, but still. I had visions of it dropping like a stone as soon as I shut it off.:D :D

I have been thinking of a sheld of some sort. Any idea how to rig something up? Also been thinking of getting the ROPs that they make for the N's. I do have some hilly aeras, and I would realy hate to have her on top of me.

One other thing I have noticed. I always thought my N looked a little wider then most. People have always said to get the 5' cutter, becouse it covers the tire tracks. Well it only covers about half the tires, so I am guessing my tires are set wider then normal. I am going to keep it that way, I like the more stable width, just intresting.

Paul, did you ever look into buying a set of front and rear chain guards? King Kutter sells them. You can order them direct from KK or have TSC order them for you. As I recall, they cost about $125. Well worth the safety they provide.

Well after being in a heated garage for the last week or so, the lift is not quite as good as I thought. Still not bad in my mind, but after about 3hours, it was half way to the floor. Concidering all the other problems I have with this tractor, I am happy with that though.

Well I was doing so more work on the tractor this weekend. I was trying to get the PTO shaft all set up. OMG that thing KICKED MY A$$!!!!

I had to cut about 3" out of it, and after cleaning it up, went to put the halfs back together. Well after slipping in about 6" it locked RIGHT up!! So then O fought, and fought to get it apart. Could not do it. So then I figurred I would mount it to the gearbox, so it would at least support one end of it, and it went half way and locked on the gearbox shaft:mad:

At this point I am screamng and yelling at the thing, then cooler heads prevailed. Got it off the shaft after a wile, then noticed the THICK paint overspry on it. Well after sanding, and sanding, I finly had to break out a fine file to get the paint off. I got it on, and after getting the shear bolt in,[MORE thick paint on THAT!!] I got the two halfs serpereted. I cleaned them up good, and called it a night. Was just one of those nights I guess, and figured I was better off just walking away.

So I am going to hit the cut ends agean with a file to clean them up more, and then check it out.

Wile I am at it. How do you put that retainer snap ring on the gearbox shaft?? Any tricks to it? I have not tryed yet, but it looks like there is not enough room to get in there .
