Back in 1986 I sold my 72 LeMans and went and bought an 86 Monte Carlo SS. Not mad about the purchase, but I am wishing that I never got rid of this. (56K image getting downloaded)

 Have you seen my car, I want it back

My little brother had the same vintage Olds Cutlass. What a great car!!!! He had the Olds 350 and auto tranny and loved it 'till the day he wrecked it. He found out after he had wrecked it that it had been wrecked before, and the body shop/neighbor we had bought it and fixed it again and sold it to someone that wrecked it again. Too much car for most people, but it sure was nice and I can fully understand why you miss yours.

Eaven though I don't have my first car, I have my[OK our] first fun project car. A 1970 Mustang my wife got in 85 from her dad. It has been it the famly sence new, her aunt bought it in 70. Almost sold it a few times, but held on to it. Glad we did, now it is undergoing a full resto[OK kinda stalled at this time with a 1 yo baby, and having just bult a new house]

Good eye's Jodyand, I really liked the look of those too.

So, here is the funny part. The Lemans obviously did not come with that hoodscoop front end. I bought the entire front clip from a junk yard. The front clip came off a STATIONWAGON????

I also rebuilt the engine @ 100k. Had it bored out, found a 12 bolt posi and put it on, even put on the crome Edlebrock valve covers and painted the engine parts. Kind of silly, but I made the water pump chevy orange. I even painted the brake drums to match the body color... look nice IMO.

I miss that car. The guy who bought is actually took it to the shop to get something fixed... starter, solinoid, don't know. The %[email protected]#%$ could afford to pay the bill. The shop held the car and threatened to sell it. (I heard all this months later). I guess he finally got it out of limbo. He used to drive it around and tell everyone he did the work. Everyone knew it was my car and just laughed at him. They would ask him questions about the engine and he would just stutter. duh, duh, duh, ya, it has 4 barrel.

It was a 350, 2 barrel and later put a 4 barrel quatrajet (sp?). I was looking at the holly double pumpers just before I sold it.

I also had a buddy who was moving and was going to give me a 6 pack that he had laying around, but the movers already packed it

Yup... the 400 sounds nice. A buddy of mine had a 68 bird with a 400 in it. He didn't do anything to the car except drive it. Silly little 2 barrel on such a nice engine. I told him to put 2 or 3 4 barrels on it, go to a half cam, bore it out, posi, yada, yada, yada. He wasn't interested.
