Im not a big howard stern fan.. actually i can not stand him.. Never thought he was funny and you can only hear him say 'show me your boobs' so many times.... like twice for me...

Thankfully we dont even get him up in my neck of the woods..

But we do get 'Don and Mike' up here, an off humor stern like show thats pretty dog gone funny..

They were taken off of the air for a few days a few weeks back until their show could be reviewed and modified so as to not offend anyone...

It seems now that they are really clamping down on all media to be decent..

So to me howard stern is no loss.. but its sort of funny.. nothing happened to justin timberfake.. yet they are going to totally change talk radio becasue of their dopey move..

howard stern pulled from a few stations

No big loss to me either, I guess clear channel pulled his show from all their stations, I think there is more that 100 of them. :wontshare

Morality

Good news. I hope it starts a trend back to morality. Besides the "indecency" of Howard Stern and his show - I find it just plain stupid.

Another tidbit: Janet Jackson was to portray singer Lena Horne in an upcoming TV show about her life. From recent internet reports Lena insisted that Janet not portray her, possibly scrubbing the whole project.

I agree.. i think howard stern is really a dumb ass show.. not even funny.. but still talk radio gets revamped.. some would say nothing wrong with that... Janet jackson gets shunned from the grammys and lena horn story.. again some would say nothing wrong with that..

But Justins got to get a little bit too.. besides being excused from a mowtown special... there was no need for him to even be in a special about mowtown.. hes about the whitest guy on the earth.. whats he know about mowtown...

The FCC is giving out huge fines for anything offensive...

Maybe this will cause a shift from talk to satellite radio like sirius or xm satellite...

We all agree he is scum bag but it always makes me wonder why he tops the ratings. I think it's because there are millions among us who like the scum he deals out. So now Janet flashes the masses and this jerks 10 year old potty humor becomes offensive? This stuff has been going on for years and it makes me wonder if the FCC has been asleep at the wheel or do they just don't care unless it becomes in vouge to care? Good riddence, I hope he now has to get a real job.

Yup

I don't get Stern on the radio and I am not usually up late enough to watch him...but I caught part of his program last Friday.

He had a porn chick on the show. A member of the staff came in and he started to beat the monkey. The station director came in after about ten minutes later and said it was a business. Stop it.

I am not so sure there was a direct corolation here. Clear Channel was fined over a million dollars because of the "Bubba the Love Sponge" thing on some whacky radio show in Florida. I think the sting of that huge fine sent a Clear Channel into motion and galvanized them to restructure their programming so there is not the slightest possibility of getting fined again. Howard Stern was stupid enough to test them on this and got the axe. (no loss there) But I think you may be right in the respect that the Janet Jackson boob show really got everyone's attention and now awareness and sensitivity is peaked. My biggest concern is the lack of common sense that seems to be prevailing lately. Janet Jackson, and Howard Stern take things too far but sure hope the FCC does not exhibit the same lack of common sense and go too far the other way with respect to censorship. Political correctness is TOTALLY about a 110% lack of common sense and that should scare everyone in this issue. Hopefully there will be some common sense applied and a good solution will prevail. Won't be holding my breath waiting for it though. :truth:

Any one here ever watch the old Amos & Andy show?
They are not shown on TV any more because they are not "political correct"

Just a thought..... :smoking:

I personally do not like Howered Stern radio show and I do not allow it played in my shop. However a lot of my employees think he is a hoot.

oh my god.. Duc, dont even start on MTV.. thats the biggest waste of air ive ever seen.. not to mention reality TV...

The only way i would watch a show like survivor would be if they unleashed a real live Jason or michael myers (friday the 13th or halloween) and let him slowly pic the tribe members off one by one...

Then at least it would be interesting..

But i digress...

BLEEEEEP......BLEEEEEEP

Talk about MTV. It used to be contraversial because they had scantily clad men and women dancing around. Now, they have that but even more of these "reality" shows. My rule in my house is that any TV show or music that requires editing or bleeping out of material, is history.
That rule makes MTV a non-issue for my 13 year old, because they can't go 5 seconds without something getting bleeped out.

wheely_boy, it is not just MTV. It is creeping into the public schools too. Yesterday I had to call our school principle about the music teacher teaching rap music songs to the kids.

It is not my place to dictate school ciriculum but rap & hip hop is forbidden in this house. Kinda undermines the parent when the school it teaching it. I instructed the principle to ensure my girls were excused from class ANY time stuff like this was taking place in the classrooms.

She agreed with me and told me that she did not know the music teacher was doing this and would change the music being taught.

It is not so much the music as it is the culture and mentality that it represents and is rooted in.

jbetts is just a little older then my eldest daughter. I don't have a problem with a lot of the hip hop music, just the stuff that adds offensive lyrics for shock value. Besides, if jbetts is anything like my kid, he has moved on beyond hip hop, to what sounds like what we used to call punk.

I have a 12 year old daughter. I can tell you in my house MTV and BET are blocked. Between the bleeped out words, homosexual open mouth kissing and soft porn videos, there is NO WAY I am exposing my little girl to that crap. Regular tv is bad enough.
