Look what my wife did to my baby today. Just what i needed to come home to today. Shes fine but the girl she hit has dollar signs in her eyes. The cop said she was fine because she was walking around and talking on her cell phone until he asked if she was alright and all of the sudden she had to go to the hospital:tellyou: That just ticks me off the cop said he would go to court for us if it comes down to that.

From what i can tell the bumper push into the A/C condenser and bent and busted it so the A/C don't work, the grille is crack at the bottom where the bumper push up into it. Its not to bad the car she hit just the back bumper got push in nothing major on either vehicle.

What is your insurance deductible? I recently changed mine to $500 to save on premiums. Glad the wife is OK and nobody hurt. Look on the bright side...........at least you have a talking point if you want to justify a new tractor or implement. :furious: :lmao: :spinsmile

Dohhhhhh.....Sorry to see that, I hope everything works out, I hate people with dollar signs! If you are hurt that is one thing, but to scam the insurance company is plain wrong!!!!!

Now If that would have been a Ford It might have just scratched the chrome!!!! Sorry I couldn't resist! The new Fords are going to the plastic bumpers and I hate that! My 02 still has a real chrome bumpers, or chrome plated something.

If she takes you to court, counter sue her for extreme suffering and lost time due to your baby being damaged...just an idea. I wonder what a judge would say???:wontshare

My 99 F150 has an all plastic grill, the bumper is metal but i hit a branch/tree while driving.. the whole grill and grill frame cracked.. and for a crappy little peice of plastic.. they wanted somethnig like 450-500$ for the part... Now i drive with a cracked grill...

Bad enough the same tree branch ripped off my plastic side mirror (300$)

Sorry to hear about the accident. I hope the other party doesn't pursue it - but be prepared in case. A couple of years ago I accidently "bumped" a car at a stop sign. Now when I say bump, I mean a light "bump" (my wife hits the back of our garage harder than this). There was no damage to either car, not even a scratch. The lady in the other car promptly got out and we looked at our cars and mutually decided not to even call the police. LAter that evening her insurance compnay called me for a a brief synopsis of the "accident" and asked for my insurance info as a formality.

Almost one year later I got a "summons" on Christame Eve saying I was being sued. The lady says she hurt her back and neck, even though it was several months after the accident that she even visited a doctor. My insurance company was very good. They hired an attorney and - to make a long story shorter - he did his best to fight it. She originally wanted $ 12,500 and after another nine months it finally was scheduled for a jury trial at court. I was pretty upset at this point. My attorney said her case was a joke and they would fight it to the end. The two parties went back and forth and my insurance company finally settled for $2500. Free money for her and her attorney for absolutely nothing ("money for nothing and your kicks for free"!) At this point the lawyer wanted to avoid the trial and waste more time.

Not a real big deal but the whole ordeal was a thorn in my side for almost two years and really tarnished my opinion of my fellow man. A waste of time and money on all sides. No wonder insurance rates are so high. Next year my oldest daughter will be 16 and I am scared to death of her driving.

Thanks yall the wife is fine shes bringing it to the claims office today to get a claim started. Anytime i have or my wife been in a wreck we have never sue anyone. We just wanted the car fix and thats it. But in todays life just about everyone is out for a free ride.

You are absolutely right, Jody. It seems that more and more people are turning into litigious snakes that are out to get "free" $ from other people and their insurance companies. I am glad to hear that no one was injured. If more of these false claim cases were prosecuted as the slanderous, illegal actions that they are, perhaps less people would jump at the chance "to get a little free $"

They are all made of plastic anymore. In some ways it might be good that the plastic will give way instead of ripping out the metal. Like your mirror if it had been all metal think of what it would have done to your door panel!!!!

The person that got hit has the real Louisiana Lottery in mind. People just pray to get rear-ended. Don't stress over it.

Make sure the insurance adjuster gets to the cop quickly for his statement. Your company will probably settle for some piddlin' amount just to close the case. It's cheaper for them to settle than it is for them to litigate here in LA. If it goes to a jury, they tend to give out, comparitively speaking, HUGE awards.

I had a similar accident 4-5 years ago, where I tapped the bumper of a truck ahead of me with the tow hook on my 4Runner. It didn't even bend the bumper, it only put a small dent (it was the about the same size as the pad of my index finger & maybe 1/16th inch deep in the center). The damage to his truck was <$300 (that's if you replace the bumper w/a new one), but he had to go see his chiropractor to get his back checked out.

To make a long story short, my insurance company gave him ~$5000 just to get rid of him. The adjuster laughed when I complained about the falseness of the claim and said "That's just the way we have to do things like this. And besides, he's spent most of that money already on the doctor & lawyer. Heh heh heh."

My rates didn't go up since I hadn't had any other accidents or moving violations on my driving record.

the only plastic on my moms Gmc is the mirrors and on the 92 GMC the only plastis is in side the truck GMC all the way

Boy Stewart...you opened a Pandora's box on that statement....

We went to the local ice cream parlor the other night...as we parked and got out of the truck I watched this guy in a new Ford F250 pull up across the street and attempt to back his truck up...as it happened he cracked into a Chevy Cavilier that was parked behind him...The Cavalier had a little crinkle on its hood, but the Ford F250 sustained massive damage to the rear bumper...I sat there in disbelief...after witnessing a little bump that bumper folded like a pretzel....Hell I got hit in the rear end in my '89 Ford F250 from an Oldsmobile doing about 40....it bent my bumper less than this new Fords...

Argee funny you would say that I saw my brother-in-law today he was in a F250 i saw that the back bumper was bent on the passenger side and the rear panel on the bed was bent. He said he was idling back and felt a bump. He said he had look before he back up and didn't see nothing so he couldn't figure out what he hit. So he got out and took a look it was one of them yellow poles about two feet tall to keep people from hitting the fire hydrant. He couldn't believe how much damage it did for what little speed he was doing. It was just idling back maybe a 1/2 mph he was pissed.

Jody...sorry for the mishap, and I too hope things work out for you. As mentioned, your families safety is of course priority #1.

As for the Ford comments, I have to intervene. Pound for pound, I'd honestly like to see the weight of plastic used in them there "Like a rock" trucks. Do they have a steel grill between those gawd-awful looking headlights? Not that I know of. Theres probably more plastic in one GM than in two or three Fords. In addition, the Fords keep running. What a concept!

It is unfortunate that nothing is built the way it "used to be", but I have given them all a try, and will buy nothing but American (as generic as that may be). I still want the "Big 3" to do well, and also hated to see the demise of the Camaro/TA...afterall, the Mustangs have less to beat up on. You unfortunately have to sell them to keep them on the assembly line. Have you seen the new Mustangs?

As for Dodge, sorry Jody, but Dodge has done me wrong. I will never buy another one, as their warranty is apparently not worth a damn. Their front ends suck. I will elaborate if need be.

Overall, I have owned 9 Fords, 2 GM's, and 1 Mo-parts. One GM blew up, the other wouldnt stay running long enough to blow up. My 2000 Voyager sounds like it's about to lose the front wheels, and my Fords have never let me down to any major extent, through all the abuse they have seen.

Beat on my Fords all you want, and I'll still love ya all...but I will sling a bit myself.

At any rate, good luck Jody...it will probably all fizzle out anyway. Times like this we all wish we had a disposable camera in the glove box.
