I have a 1990 John Deere 265 lawn tractor that I still use all summer to mow and all winter to snow blow. About ten years ago, I fabricated a light bar for above the cockpit. I used some leftover wire I had kicking around and simply connected it with a spade type wire connectors to the starter. It worked great for a long time, but recently stopped working entirely. (The check battery warning is always on now, too.)

As I make repairs, I'm sure I should rewire the lights in a better way. Does anyone have suggestions for wire or a wire harness, and how best to correctly connect to the tractor?

Thanks!

I'd consider tying it into your tractors headlights, with a switch between the power and the new lights. LEDs might be a good choice as well, for both brightness and power draw.
