Are you pulling the belt tensioner pulley against the belt idler tensioner spring and lever as far as it will go when you are trying to fit the belt?.
How much longer is the old belt compared to the new belt?.
J.D. Z910A Deck Belt issue.. help!
Hello Everyone!
I need some help on a deck belt issue ..John deer sold me a belt that they said would work but its to short so I take it back and they insist its correct but I cant stretch the darn thing jeez..
It is a z910a I gave them all the serial numbers and it is a 48" iron 7 deck it even says it on the deck so I follow the route diagram I mean can anyone help out with this problem?
The one I took off that is shot is definitley longer a bit ,stock belt says its 156" the next size is for a 54" Deck at 167" long I may just buy or trade it in and find out..
Any help will be appreciated!

Yes!!, wrong belt for sure and from your photos it looks like the original is an A belt and the new is a B belt in section, have you taken the original belt in for the dealer to check against the new belt supplied?, that would be the next step, makes you wonder how they cannot follow by the mower model numbers or even why parts don't match.
