I'd be a little leery about sending money to anyone. Perhaps there's a way to use paypal or something like that, so you have a little bit of protection. Or keep looking.

JDY, I know that on expensive items on ebay, pay pal payments are held up until the item is shipped, and the buyer checks off that the transaction went well. You might contact pay pal to see if they can do something of this nature outside of ebay for this transaction.
