If it started ok.. why didn’t you tell them to build it anyway.??
With a tractor that age, wouldn’t it be more beneficial to use starting fluid.??

That could have been fixed on the tractor, just a copper washer under that fitting

Just about every pump shop is gonna tell you this
if the engine was starting , then have them reseal the pump

If the pump is bad, it may be more cost effective to move up to the 495 style VE series pump
the pump will fit with the exception of the throttle linkage , kill cable, and fuel return line
these are easily modified
