Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid Filter Wont Fit

2556 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  John Palmer
So I decided to drop the hydraulic filter cover and drain all the fluid on my Selectmatic Case 380ck (David Brown 885). I knew this was a problem some time ago and it may explain why my 3PH is moving so slowly. When I go to install the hydraulic filter on this tractor, the stem on the filter does not reach the tube that then connects to the pump behind the PTO housing. Now when I first picked up this tractor from my grandfather's farm, I did the same thing and noticed that someone had beat the filter down so that the stem would reach. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue and knows the proper part # because there is no way this is correct. Please take a look at the attached photos. Very simply you should be able to pop that filter into the hydraulic pump tube, it even has an O-ring on it to make a proper seal. I am a loss.

The part # for the filter in the parts catalog says K920522, which is exactly what I ordered and it does not fit. Please help!

Good Morning John,

Others have had this problem. Obviously a screwup by Case & David Brown. But I cannot find a correct filter. I found the following comment on the old (now defunct) SSB tractor forum:

"Have a 380CK myself and what I did was to take another filter that was old and cut the top off and then slip it up inside the new one and it worked fine. I cut it off so as the new one would slip into the other and the o ring would hold."
