Hydraulic hose replacement

323 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Tractor mechanic
Hi everyone. Yet again I'm here with my old rusty Massey Ferguson 30E industrial loader. I've need new hydraulic pipes on the loader hydraulic system and I'm not sure how to go about bleeding the system, apparently some tractors self bleed after having air in the hydraulics but I doubt a Massey Ferguson of its age would be able to do that. If anyone could guide me to how to go about it I would greatly appreciate it

The norm was to use the control levers as if the system was working, with engine running, pull the boom lever to raise position for a few seconds and then push away to lower position, recycle this and when the boom starts to raise, keep the cycle going until you can extend the boom rams full extent, on lowering, pull the rods in as far as they will go, do this a few times and you will bleed the air from the system, do the same for the crowd and dump rams, work the lever for crowd and then dump until the rods fully extend and retract into the cylinders, it may take a little while, if the cylinders still have oil in them, then shouldn't take long at all.

Shouldn't matter what age the machine is, different procedure if the hydraulic pump was replaced or oil drained,

Thanks for the information! I will try this once the pipes are replaced. It also needs it's entire loader arm to be removed aswell due to major engine repairs needed so I will do this process once the loader arm is put back on and the pipes are replaced. Kind regards
