A son of mine just bought his first house and is not mechanically inclined. Has about 1/2 acre to mow and am thinking of suggesting a 28" Snapper. Any opinions on durability and how good a cutting job they do?

Welcome oldwreck:friends: I have an old 30" Snapper Comet and i can say they are very reliable. I had to change the transmission when it was about 30 years old. They are very easy to work on and very easy to operate. With the deck level and the blade sharp they cut great and its a very good choice for a 1/2 acre.

They are built like a tank. I had one with a 30" cut that cut real nice. Only thing is i didn't buy big enough for my 1 acre so i ended up getting a snapper tractor with a 41" cut. I don't think you would be dissappointed with it. You might want to go with at least a 30" cut though.
