Read a few threads about gas can's and still trying to decide what to do. I have the 5 gallon plastic jug and trying to decide if that is what I am going to stay with. I like the size, but the use is not fun when it is full. The location of my gas cap is awkward at best. I got a 2 foot piece of hard rubber tubing, a 1 inch clamp and added that to the end of the spot. It makes it MUCH easier to do the long reach and pouring. I like the idea of a hand pump, just not sure how much pumping I have to do or how long it will take to fill 2 gallons of gas.

Thoughts?

I agree with Jerry a hand pump or a electic pump. I know what you mean about being awkward but i dont have that problem on my Cub Cadet.;) The filler neck is on the rear fender with the opening big enough to put my hand in. When i get home will post some links for you dont have time right now boss is on my a--.:D

How big is the gas tank, and how far away is the gas station? If you have a 2gal tank, and a gas station is close, get a nice 3gal can. Hold enough, but a little easer to lift and pour. I have three cans. One 1gal can for the small mowers, a 3 gal for the tractors, and a 5 gal for the N, and other cars, and trucks I have. When I fill one, I fill them all. Pretty easy most of the time.

Have you considered using a wide mouth fuel funnel? My fuel tank on my 1715 is under the hood near the steering column. By using a funnel I can pour faster (helps to lighten fuel can quicker) and I don't slop the fuel all over.

I think that a simnple hand pump will do the trick.

I also bought a 5 G + size red plastic can - it has a pressure (via spring) cap on it as well as a flame arrestor - so it is fire marshall approved for keeping inside the garage.

It is supposed to be flame proof (if a spark or flame gets close to it) -- of course I believe them and will not try it myself :p

The other option is to use your can and a large funnel with a long extended hose to fill your tank...it may require 2 people :D

I looked at the one on tractor supply and I have a few more questions.

When you pump, is that when the gas comes through the nozzle? OR, is it that you pressurize the container by pumping and there is a trigger on the handle to make it flow?

MOST pumps for liquid (especially gasoline) are typically the suction/vacuum type - to prevent spaying flammable or corrosive liquid in place you do not want. Normally the vacuum or suction pulls in gas into a mini storage area and it has a backflow preventer valve and then the gas flows into the other side of the pipe or conduit.

I got a simple one - one end goes into the container, the other into the "empty or target" tank side. You pump and then it dumps the gas -- If I remember right is was about $10 or so afew years back.

I gave up about 2 hrs ago, after I broke the counter.

For the record, my counter PROBABLY says 141, but the correct # is 148 (including this one, at least)

In reality, I'm #2, and have been since a certain brown eyed beauty kidnapped my heart. SHE is #1.............

Oh, You meant #2 HERE!!!!!
