I have a Ford 1920 tractor, ~ 34 years old. Cold out here in central Ohio. Went to start it yesterday, after plugging it in for ~ 20 minutes. After warming glowplugs, tried to start, but saw sparks shooting out from wire connection on starter. It did not start and now will not turn over. Is this a bad starter or just bad connection on stqarter?

Good morning Marcus, welcome to the forum.

Clean the connections on the starter and see if that solves your problem. Also check your battery cable connections, especially your ground connection.

Thank you for your suggestion! When I went out to the cold barn to check the connections, I discovered that the cable running from the battery to the starter had melted off, having free. It had also partially melted the wore to the fuse box. So I replaced the battery cable & fixed the fuse wire, and after a quick charge, she started right up! Thanks!! (But then, that meant had no excuse but to plow the snow from our 1/4 mile driveway.)
