This from those who drive the smaller cheapest most fuel efficient cars they can find, until one day they cutoff a semi on the interstate! This kind of BS is all over the news. How many times does the headline read "out of control suv blah blah blah or SUV kills blah blah blah...." Like the drivers had nothing to do with it.

I would love to find some geek putting a sticker on my Tahoe's bumper, I guess than me and my SUV would be on the news. I just wonder if the headlines would read "SUV DEFENDS ITSELF" or "PYSCHO WITH SUV KILLS ENVIRONMENTALISTS!"

Another thing I always find amusing is that for 364 days a year we(SUV owners) are selfish, reckless, aggressive, killing the planet... But when a good snowfall hits, first thing you hear on the radio is a call for volunteers with SUVs to transport medical and emergency personnel to police, fire stations and hospitals. I guess to them we should spend $30-$60,000 and only use it when "they" need it!

Well I drive an SUV. Well, if you call a 20yo Cherokee and suv. Why? Well first it was free. Next I need the 4wd to get to parts of my land, and last there is not realy any station wagon like cars out there that are NOT SUV's or van's. Hey a little Civic, or a hybrid may be great for you, an we DO have a small Saturn that my wife drives, but how am I going to fit, 3 adults, one baby two dog's, and lugage in a small car for a 4 hour trip every other weekend in the summer???? Ya I will admit a lot of people don;t use it how it should be, but just becouse you like a certin type of car, why should everyone??? Should we all drive around in those little Eco globes??? How do they expect us to grab a sheat of drywall???

You want to know what I feel is wastfull? Now I should not complane becouse it pays my bills, but have you EVER seen how many cars are out there? Everyone NEEDS to buy a new car every two years. The old one just sits there. OK maybe it sell a year, or so down the road, but drive by a car dealer. How much engery did it take to build all those cars? In TRUE costs, seems to me get a few more years out of old bessy is a LOT cheaper than making 50 cars just so little Jenny, and Bobby don't have to wait for the silver one, becouse the lot has all the colors.

Don't let me see you putting that sticker on my truck...

This is america, I can do whatever the %[email protected]#$ I want to as long as I don't break the laws. BTW, I'm sure that is some form of vandalism. I'm sure the cop will back you up making that nut take the sticker off your truck.

GET THE %[email protected]$% OVER IT, it's a truck and I'm going to drive it and if you don't want own one... fine. Go save the starving children, the abused women, the abused children and do something with your life that REALLY counts and will make this a better world to live in.

:ditto: Tell like it is tisenberg i have two trucks a full size and a mini and i will take the full size in a min. I went the small car thing once don't like it. The cars and trucks today run better and get better mileage then they used to. The problem is they have to many people driving today as soon as a kid gets his licenses his parents buy them a car. So you have alot more cars on the road today and the kids want to drive like crazy and race. What burns more gas racing kids all the time or SUVs. Drive around on Friday night or Saturday night and look how many kids or out driving and racing one another. Im not saying that kids shouldnt drive just that you should buy them a car as soon as they get there licenses make them work for the money for a car.

But you see that's my point, SUVs are not the enemy here even though they are portrayed to be. The problem with the SUV is that drivers don't know how to handle them or respect them. If you think back to being a teen and driving your first V-8, you thought it was the fastest car in the world! Even though it probably wasn't a muscle car. The same can be said for motorcyclists at first, until they learn to respect the machine. I bought my first 4X4 a 76 Blazer when I was 22. I thought I was the king of the road! After bouncing off a few gaurd rails from turning too fast on wet roads I learned "how" to drive one. They are the safest vehicles on the road "IF" driven correctly(aside from the explorer tire issue).A loaded semi doesn't take sharp turns at 80mph either w/o consequence. I've seem many more small cars upside down in accidents than SUVs The real issue behind the "ATTACK" on SUVs is that the government wants small fuel efficient cars not these big gas guzzlers or else they would have not called for the downsizing of the late '70's and the on board computers and emissions controls. They left light duty trucks immune from most of this as to not negatively impact the commercial or businees end. Americans that realized smaller cars were more likely to cause injuries in accidents and automakers that saw the loophole as a way to sell "big" cars again, ruined their plan. Most people who own one will never go back to cars, although they usually own a car also. Most other drivers who complain about SUVs usually make the point that they can't see around them, this leads to road rage where that guy cuts off the SUV to get even and yes at 6000# they don't stop that fast, even with ABS. The other point I've seen mentioned time and again is that SUV drivers are too aggressive. I aggree but again back to "king of road" kind of thing. the "NEW" trend lately, mostly cars, is driving at 50-60mph down the shoulder to avoid traffic, I see accidents every day because of this, but it's never called a "trend" or stopped by police.

They should make it a lot harder to get a driver's license like they do in Europe. I think in Germany you have be pretty schooled and pass some pretty rigid tests before you are allowed to drive. Sure there are some horrific crashes on the Autobahn, but I betcha those high speed drivers are a hell of a lot more competent drivers, and a hell of a lot more in control of their vehicles, than the morons that populate the Interstates here in the states.

My view? If you can't see around something, your too dam close!!! Back the F up, and all will be fine, and the roads will be that much safer.

I had a moron putting a gas guzzling "ticket on my V-10 Dodge a couple years ago. The truck was loaded to the top of the bed with a load of furniture for my son when I caugt the idiot and made him remove the ticket after I called the police. I informed him my truck was not to be tampered with. My truck earns it keep in helping me and folks from our church. I also tow my trailer and the fifith wheel I have with along with our Diesel Ram. When I drive to work I use my 14 year old Plymouth Acclaim that gets 30 miles to the gallon (with a 100 mile commute I can not afford to drive the Ram) and with 191,000 miles on the Plymouth it is obvious I drive the Plymouth alot. But if I ever get hold of a tagger he may get a shotgun up his a$$. Because I will sting like a :buzz:

My brother has had Chevy Blazers for years. He bought his first new one last summer. He has never said he does not like my Chevy Cavaliers. But you can alway tell because when he gets a Blaser even when he was buying used ones with 100000 miles on them.He always made a big deal out of it.But when I buy a new Cavalier and pay less then he gives for a second hand SUV that some one else has gotten most of the useful life out of.He would not say anything just kind of small Ha Ha!!!!!!!!

He is a divorced guy with a live in girl friend.Who never had a pot to pee in before she roped my brother. He is a truck driver and makes a decent living. She is a waitress who drives 30 miles for tips. She convinced him to buy a brand new Tahoe last summer. He had her look at my Cavalier and she practically said it was a POS.She said she had to have more room then that.So the fool bought her the Tahoe. What would that cost $30,000?So she can drive 30 miles one way for tips.I dought she makes enough to pay for the gas.But she loves her job.Yea right she loves the truck drivers that she waits on but that another story.

Any way I have seen many SUV,S up side down in a ditch after hitting a sheet of ice.Probably the drivers but why do cars just slide in the ditch? While the SUV's are upside down?Top heavy is my guess.Well this week my brothers girl friend rolled the Tahoe after hitting a sheet of ice while driving to her less then $200.00 per week job in a $30,000 status vehical. She is OK not a scratch I guess. My brother hopes the insurance company totals the SUV.Last night I drove by there house and a Chevy Cavalier was sitting in the drive way.Im preety sure it must be a rental that the insurance company got them. But I got a good chuckel out of that any way.

I have nothing against a SUV if that is what you want to spend your hard earned money on.But beleve me not every one who drives a small car is a geek cutting off semi drivers.I estimate 80% of the trucks on the road meaning SUV's pickups you name it the real reason for owner ship is Status and keep up with the neighbor or friends. But thats your business and I agree if someone sticks a bumper sticker on your vehical you should be pi$$ed.

So, johndeere would you say she was one of those inexperienced, king of the road types I reffered to earlier? Sounds like it to me. The secret to 4X4 driving in slippery conditions is keeping power to the wheels. Not a lot of power or on and off power, but smooth and steady and let the 4 wheel action pull you through. The problem like I said before is inexperience. Most people's first reaction in a skid is to hit the brakes. Did she have the truck in 4HI or AUTO 4WD, or only in 2HI? It will react differently in each setting. And because by the very nature of being higher, and therefore topheavy any quick jerking action on the steering wheel can flip you over.
Back to another story about my inexperience at 22yrs old with my '76 Blazer 4" lift and 33" allterrain t/a's. I was driving in the left lane on a parkway one day 60-65mph when I came upon a flooded out lane and trafffic next to me, when I hit the water at speed, the entire left side of the truck went airborne. After driving on the 2 right wheels a short distance I turned the wheel slightly, and luckily the right way and bounced the truck back onto all 4 wheels. Again not a fault of the truck but rather a fault of my own inexperience.

Hard telling what the Bimbo did but it rolled.I bet if she had been driving a front wheel drive car.It would not have happened. If it had it more then likley would not have rolled.Every winter I see SUV,s up side down in the ditch.I see many cars also but there not upside down.Has to be something to it.Oh I just remembered this is a 2wheel drive not a 4x4

As far as the cars not turning over in the ditch could it be because they are lower to the ground and kind of "beach" themselves in the dirt? 2WD Tahoe? What's the point? I'm assuming they're in Illinois also? Wouldn't the whole point in getting the truck be for the 4WD? I know for me it's the only reason. After having the Blazer for over ten years and then going back to a car that couldn't go in more than 8-10" of snow, I went back to the 4X4. I felt pretty silly walking instead of driving.
