I have the 226 gas engine in my D17. After cleaning the crank journal from the spun bearing it seems my crank journal in roughly .002’ out of round. The original journal was 2.995” and I’m currently at 2.365”. I’m trying to find how much out of round I can be in the journal before I have to look into shop work. From what I’m finding it looks like .030” is the max they went on this crank for bearings. If that’s the case, I’m already looking at trouble. But if I’m too much out of round I’m sunk. I have an IT manual but its not going real in depth as far as tolerances.
