Here's a restored 1959 Dodge Coronet Missouri State Highway Patrol car at the Missouri State Fair. Check out those tail fins, and the big "sy-reen" on the RF fender!

Mow,
Beautiful job they did! Kinda fooled me at first. I read '59 HP car as 59hp car...

Nice photos on your site. Thanks for the post.

Yeah, I was thinking 59 horsepower, too. I was pleasantly surprised. Nice pics!

I think Barney and Andy were strictly Ford men. :D

Good pictures of it Mow. Seemed back then the bigger the fins, the more important the person driving was. Imagine seeing that mean looking grill and flashing light combined with a siren big enough to call a volenteer fire department to duty barrowing down on you in the rearview mirror? You knew you where in trouble then. :lmao:

They were Ford men, indeed. I know of a restored early 60's Ford police car. Looks just like the one from Mayberry. Pretty cool vehicle.

It didn't have a Hemi and I forgot what size the 4bbl engine was, but I was told they were pretty fast in their day.

I wasn't sure if Dodge was still making there hemi at that time. I know they had the "Red Ram" earlier. I think Chrysler still had the 392.

If I remember right, all the vehicles for Andy Griffith were supplied by Ford.
