I was replacing the drive belt on my riding mower when it came to the clutch spring one idea was to use a ratchet strap I had this turn buckle and it worked great to stretch the spring, a lot better than the Chanel locks I was going to use.
I've used ratchets straps before...... They make all kinds of tools for the job. Then again, seems as though the OEM's could come up with something other than a huge spring to fight and still maintain belt tension
