Its sad that the iraqi cowards are resorting to taking hostages... Unlike the spaniards, the japanese government is not going to bow to the iraqi thugs.. They kidnapped 3 civilians and are threatening to kill them if the japanese government does not withdraw.. Its very sad but i am proud to say the japanese are our true friends.. They are standing strong..

My prayers go out to the hostages and their families.. and of course our and all of the troops..

They are prohibited from doing anything close to that by their Constitution, written by the US occupation forces.

It would also send shock waves throughout Asia. China, in particular, wouldn't stand for it. Too many hard feelings and lingering fear of a "militarized" Japan.

It took a lot of "backroom" politicting just to get the understanding and OK to go in for humanitarian work, which is all they are permitted to do.
