Good Afternoon.

Thank you for accepting me into the forum. I have a Bedford MJ truck with a 5.4l Turbo diesel engine. I want to put this into a Fordson Major. Can anyone tell me if it will go straight in or do I need a conversation plate. If so do you know where I can purchase.

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum.

May I ask where you got the idea for doing this? I think a conversion plate might be the least of your problems trying to mate that engine to that tractor.

Thanks for your reply Marc.

A friend of mine has four Majors, Ford engine from a Combine Harvester, Cummins engine etc. I am intrigued why you think mating the engine would be the least of the problems.

Just usually a truck engine sits on the chassis whereas a tractor engine is built into the chassis. I am no expert on this though, but am curious to see how it works. Do you have any pics of your friend’s tractors?

I was just looking this up, apparently it’s a thing. People have been doing this since the ‘40s.

Can you shed some light then, is it a straight in for the Bedford or do I need a plate. Any links would be welcome.

Sorry, I meant just mating up large engines to Fordsons in general. I don’t think I can be of any help here, but I would think you’re going to have to fab something up for this. Have you torn into either the tractor or the truck yet?
