Ag vs Turf tire size

Hello all. First post, first tractor. I just picked up a Cub Cadet 7235 and the front tires could need some replacing soon. It has 25x8.5-14 turf tires on it currently. When looking at tractor data it says that size for turf but 6.70-15 for Ag. I would like to replace the tires with ag/industrial tires but confused as to why the sizes are so different. Remember, I’m new to tractor ownership. Help please. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum! The turf tires are mounted on 14" rims, the ag tires are mounted on a 15" rim. The turf tires are 8.5" wide and the Ag tires are 6.7" wide. What all of that means is that you will need new rims for the Ag tires of the size you listed. I'd explore what Ag tires are available to mount on your 14" rims. Keep in mind that your tractor is a 4 wheel drive and the outside diameter of the front tires has to match the diameter of the tires you have so the 4WD will not be out of phase.

Thank you! This is exactly what I was thinking. I wanted to check to see if tire sizes were some foreign language or something. I’ll order ag tires in the same sizes I have now.

You should also be looking at the OD of your new tires as it can and does vary between manufactures and even different series of tires from the same manufacture.
