I think they are digging it up. If I'm not mistaken, that is one of the planes Saydumb buried to keep Bush from destroying it.

I'm wondering where the Kabota is. Setting in the shade somewhere maybe? Drinking lemonaid. ;)

What a waste of good airplanes. Lots of folks trying to by jets like these to fly as a hobby (John Travolta as example) and these are essentially trashed in the dirt, when they could be entertaining people at air shows.

Yeah, it is a weapon if used that way, but B-17s were once weapons of mass destruction, and I was entertained a lot when I got a chance to see 2 fly in formation at an airshow in Scranton Pa a few years ago. I never thought I'd ever live long enough to even see one, but when 2 flew by with a P-51 fighter as "escort", I was totally overcome with joy. The Mig 29 is an excellent aerobatic display aircraft. And the whole world would be a better place if that was what they were used for, don'tcha think?

Here is what I think:

As a pilot with over 13,000 flight hours Military and Commercial (civilian) I have no desire to share the airspace with that "Entertaining Aircraft" (as you call it) !!

Joe there have been a few times in my career that I too was overcome and it sure wasn't with JOY!!!

Knowing that, I can totally respect and understand your thoughts on MIGs. I've only ever seen "enemy" aircraft flown by "friendly" folks, not by bad guys looking to shoot me down. I can see where that would certainly and understandably change my point of view.

Just as a minor point of order; that is a Mig 25 Fox Bat. Not a Mig 29 Fulcrum. The Mig 25 Fox Bat although an obsolete aircraft, in this case was a Mig 25 upgrade with newer avionics. This aircraft is still capable of well in excess of Mach 2 flight speeds. It is however a fuel toilet and cannot fly for extended periods of time without refuel like more modern aircraft can. It was developed by the Soviets as a pure interceptor.

MiG-25 FOXBAT

Here is the story behind the picture:

MiG Jet Fighter Found Buried in Iraq

Although a dated aircraft; it could still inflict tremendous damage in the wrong hands.
