I don't suppose anyone knows where the neutral switch is on a MF 1735M? I have a weird issue when I leave the seat the tractor shuts off even if it is in neutral and the parking brake it on. Workaround to tape down the seat switch.

thanks

Good Morning Fatsback,

What type transmission does your tractor have? If it's a gearbox, the neutral safety switch is normally under the transmission cover, although it may be screwed into the top of the cover. Look for wires protruding out of the cover. If it's a hydrostat transmission, it's probably in the linkage.

Apparently your seat switch is functioning ok. There are other safety switches......brake, clutch, PTO...

Attached below is a video for MF starting problems, but at the end he discusses switches that will kill the engine if you want to get off.

Ended up being the neutral switch or at least a disconnected one. The parts catalog calls it a sensor but it is a sensor switch. The fingers where not in around the connection rod so the switch basically wasn't getting engaged. As the gear selector is moved the switch goes to different positions. Snail-N-Turtle-N-Rabbit. So it either shuts the tractor off for safety(in gear) or allowing idle (in neutral). I'm surprised the tractor would even start as the fingers stayed in the full forward position past the rabbit gear.
