This Economy 2418 Power King was voted in as our TractorForum "Tractor of the Month" for February 2017 and belongs to buggyman who's been a member since 2013.
It's a 1978, 18 Horse power with a 4 speed transmission. Power King began production in 1946 and continued their production for over fifty years. The company was originally called Engineering Products and they manufactured Economy and Jim Dandy tractors in Wisconsin, however for fear that the name would imply that the tractors were cheap, they renamed them Power King!
Buggyman found this tractor in southern Missouri on Craigs List and bought it sight unseen! The tractor was in pretty good shape part from a leaky rear end and it also required two new front tires. The tractor didn't look that great as the paint job was pretty poor and not applied very well and peeling. It was painted green rather than the original orange, but he decided to repaint it John Deere Green and take it to shows and parades. It sure makes an interesting "John Deere" and is certainly a conversation piece wherever he takes it!
