Side of the yard on this side of the garage is wet, overgrown, and not an area that can be used for much of anything. Thinking of putting in a pond, fixing the drainage, and finding a more out of the way spot for a new shed our outbuilding. Just using a chainsaw and an 73 Ariens garden tractor with a cart to move things around so far. Thinking an excavator rental may be in my future if I dig a pond, the local place has a Kubota with a hoe and loader that might get a day so action here before it is all said and done.
We have our 3 tractors, and they're interesting ones!
Nominees this month are from the back -hoe category,so cast your votes.

Well, since the weather cooled,a bit,I decided to strip the deck,on the JD .
Found a couple of weak spots, with pin holes, but, overall,it's still solid!
Removed all the spindles, and tensioners, etc.,without a single broken bolt!
Spindles, bushings, and blades,as well as the secondary belt, are in great shape.
The primary belt,though, needs replacing.
I will be sanding, and grinding any rust, and welding in new metal.
PO used it , commercially,for over 2 years,and wasn't one to do cleaning/repairs.
Still,...it beats paying almost $1300.00,for a new BARE shell !

Everything was working fine and all the sudden the PTO was kicking it self out. When I would try to engage it the blades would spin, but as soon as I let off the PTO it would throw itsle fback in the off position. I tried a few more times and the metal wire that is attached to the PTO snapped in half.
Anyone have an idea on what caused all this?
My 135 (1967) usually never gives me any trouble but its not starting today. It turns over but it wont start. It's definitely a fuel issue. I removed the air filter and gave it a quick shot of either an it turned right over. It has a new air filter. I loosened the drain on the bottom of the fuel filter bowl and it seemed to be under pressure. Fuel shot out. Any ideas? Thanks.
My ys4500 has a confusing issue when I pull the freewheel lever out to purge the tranny. It will not move in reverse during purging but when I press forward on the pedal it takes off? Its like freewheel works for pushing it around, and reverse but forward when its running it still wants to pull. I mowed for 20 minutes the other day with the lever out, and didnt realize the lever was out until I tried to backup.
I'm getting a used John Deere 430 garden tractor. I'll be living on a property with fairly sandy soil (northern Florida). I am thinking it would be nice to have a small plot, maybe 40 by 40, for tomatoes and peppers.
Sadly, I know nothing about gardening.
What do you use to prepare and maintain a tomato patch? I'm definitely not doing it with a hoe.
