That a good looking JD unit.

I own a JD 950 (just posted a pic). That 1050 is just a bit bigger, yet with those tires on the unit certainly lowers the unit, so it's easy to get on/off. I wish mine had those Turf tires, but don't
know how the work in snow.

That model is also Turbo charged - correct ??

I looked for your 950, but didn't see it. Where is the pic? Yeah, it's a turbo. I would really rather have ag type tires. The tractor is 83" wide with the turf tires. Finding a trailer to haul it on is a little more
troublesome. I bought a 7 ft finish mower so it would be as wide as the tire tracks, and it's almost too much weight on the rear. The front end wants to "float" even with a bunch of weight. I don't use the finish
mower for the yard, but other areas on the farm. However, it is really stable when on a slope, or crossing a small ditch.

It's up there called Balzac Green. (Compact Tractors)

Interesting your comments on the turf tires maybe I should be happy and simply upgrade my front tires to a wider version, something with a number of Ribs. I typically like
to have the rotortiller on the rear while moving dirt around. That extra weight makes a big drifferance on 2 wheel traction limits and reduces spinning or tearing up exisiting sod.

How's that Turbo, I can't imagine much boost
while working around the yard ??

I think the biggest advantage for the turbo is when mowing with that 7ft finish mower or rough cut mower. It is kinda neat when I have to run down a paved road, and you can hear the turbo spool up and whistle a bit. The turf
tires limit my traction, so it's seldom that I pull any thing hard enough to need the turbo boost.

I am restoring my Dad's 1980 model (serial 001606) JD1050 at the present. That is a nice paint job. I could use some pointer about making the job easier!

@qstott Nice looking tractor, the 1050 is a step up from the 950. I had a 950 w/ loader it was good for small jobs around the farm.
I used a 5 foot bush hog with mine and it worked out ok for the most part.
However, a 7 foot
bush hog is really way to much for your 1050. The strain alone will beat it down and your P.T.O. clutch will definitely not last as will the entire tractor.
These compacts were not made for a 7 foot bush hog.
I don't mean to
sound like a no it all it is that I have seen the end result of such combinations .
Good luck and good farming.

@duke7595 My bush hog is a 5 ft as well. The 7 ft mower is a finish mower.
