perkins head removal question
Well ill give you a little background on the engine..it came out of a tractor and was transplanted into a taylor sea eagle marine forklift. I know that the perkins is a 1988 inline 6cylinder. My boss has tasked me with pulling the head off of it because it started shooting water from between the head and block in the back left corner of the head. I've removed heads on v8 gas powered motors but never an inline diesel and since my boss is too cheap to purchase the manual on the engine I come to the online forums for guidance. I've removed most of the external parts that look like needs to be removed, but my question is concerning the water pump. Its on the top front of the motor, and looks as though it bolts to the head AND block. Does it just unbolt and come right off, or is there. A keyed slot itslides into?. Do I even need to take it off to get the head off? And last but not least.....is there anything I need to be looking out for when I unbolt the head and pull it off. Like any known issues I should be looking for on these motors?
