Allis Chalmers WD-45

hi i am a kid working on a limited budget I found a WD-45 on craigslist for $650 dont know if it runs or not it is rough on the outside but frame looks solid is this a good buy

Welcome to the forum Steve...... I'd say if it looked as though everything was there and ran or could run easily, Yeah! I'd probably go for it.

How are your mechanical skills? Are you looking for a working tractor or a showpiece? I agree with tractor beam, if the tractor looks complete and you have the skills, then it should be okay. If you just want a tractor to get some work done, you may end up putting a lot of time into that tractor to get it running if it doesn't already. I don't know how much you read, but Roger Welsch has several books regarding his love for WD-45 tractors. He is a humorist, so they aren't restoration manuals, but he talks about rebuilding his tractors and "Sweet Allis" as he calls his first WD-45. The tractors are very simple, so fixing them shouldn't be that difficult if you have the skills.

my dad and grandpa are both inclined in working on tractor engines and they have all the tools needed to do it thanks

Yes, That's a fair price. If all goes wrong you could part it out and get alot of your money back.
