I have an AC 170 that was running just fine, doing work, when all of a sudden it just stopped running. It was like someone just turned off the key. I do have lights, so it's getting power from the battery at least. However when I turn the key to be able to start it, there is no power to the guages. It's like it's completely dead. I checked the two fuses behind the instrument panel, they are both fine. Looking for ideas of what would cause this.

Welcome to the forum Kman! Could be the ignition switch itself. Does it turn over at all? Is it new enough to have any safety switches on it, such as "operator Presence"? Could be a faulty switch if that's the case.

No it doesn't even trun over. It's like the key isn't even turned. It doesn't have an "operator presence" switch. It does have a switch that requires the clutch pedal to be pushed in for it to start, but that has been overridden years ago

I'll mention this because it's happened to me before............One of the terminals came partially off the battery post from hitting rough ground causing the engine to stop. Same thing as you. I looked everything over and discovered the terminal slipping off the post. Just yet another suggestion.

most likely this is a simple electrical connection problem, and I'm assuming that this is the gas engine (there are 170's with the diesel engine).
A sudden cut off could means no electrical power to the spark plugs. I'm thinking that you should start troubleshooting the ignition switch.

Well, the issue ended up being a loose connection on the key switch. I intended on replacing it and the light switch anyway, so got that done too. I appreciate all the feedback!!
