Moving a Tree..

Anyone have an idea of about how big of a root ball I would need maintain to move a 15 to 20 ft pear tree? I plan to trim it back to about 10,or 12 ft before moving it but I know I need to keep as much of the original roots as possible.. the thing is its just me, and all by hand with no equipment to lift it.. The trunk is about 8 to 10 inches in diameter if that helps any..

NO! Just a big fat NO! on that one......... Besides.... If you went and moved it, you'd have to change your phone number and go into hiding again then move yourself....... (Rib Rib!) Naw, I don't think on something that size, by hand, would be survivable, but that's just me................

Yep we want to put a fence between us, and the neighbors next door. I told them I like them, and have known them for awhile but I dont want to look at them everyday..... They are good neighbors..But anyway I had thought the same thing just cut it, and be done with it..

Make firewood and get a sapling and a rabbit. Put the bunny hutch near the tree. It will get big in a few years.

Yep I saw that episode, and the one where they used a crane to lift one over a house into the backyard (Oak Tree) I think.. I think I will borrow my neighbors tractor, and use the FEL to lift it, and move it to the backyard.. It will take a day, or 2 to get it ready to move....

Walt,
I sucessfully transplanted a 7 foot Japanese Maple this last spring, but 8-10 inches is up there. Thomas has it. I went 1 foot past the the branch spread. Ammend the soil ALOT mulch it out the same distance and get a treegator to keep it watered.
