minimizing the mess from cutting wood!
After years of trying to break frozen sawdust from the ground to 'clean up' after last seasons wood heat, I had an idea!
NOW, I spread a canvas tarp on the ground where wood is cut/split and put the 'remaines' in a 40 gallon garbage can. Well, a LOT of 40 gallon garbage cans.
The ones that get the bark, shards and chunks from the splitter, are dragged to the shops for 'starter' materials, the sawdust from the 'cutting' part are kept dry and spread on the ice for traction. Since there are no nails,(like ashes frequently harbor). WIN!! WIN!!!
When I'm done 'processing' the wood, the tarp is pulled up and the driveway is still gravel!
Just thought that I would 'share' my discovery!
I heat 2 houses and 4 shops with wood. That takes a LOT of cutting/splitting!
