I love getting firewood. This 44 year old comes alive when hitting the woods.

The only firewood I will touch today is what is going into the stoves!
I ache all OVER!! I managed to haul some riders on the bus, but the arms and legs are mad at me! (short drivers again)
I did move one wheel barrow load of small locust to the porch as some 'hair-of-the-dog'.
It's sort of like taking a shot of whiskey to get rid of a hangover.

Been working up a medium sized Red oak that has been dead for a couple of years, about 22" at the base hasn't been too bad. I'll need a splitter for some of it though. I don't get in a big rush and try to keep it it at under 1/2 a cord per weekend so I don't get just plain tore up.

Well, we are getting ready for next year. Messed about outside all day and split a couple of cords. Thought I'd stack it like this and see how that will work. It's pretty stable and hopefully it will be bone dry in the fall.
It's call a Holz Hausen, ( wood house) I built mine 7' in diameter, and 7'high which yields about 2 cords of wood. Traditionally they were 10' in diameter, and 10' high and took about 6 cords of wood to build.... would be enough for a typical winters worth of heat.

I used about 3 cords and less than 200# propane. With the help of my friend Jack's 'bounty', I have a cord left.
We're gonna cut all spring, so we will be ready when winter returns.
We still have not worked our way into the area that started it all.

It's only the 27th of March, I've had to mow twice, should of been 3 times. Mama wants to fire up the AC but I'm not ready to mothball the wood stove yet.
