Ford 4500 Fuel Injector Gaskets
I volunteer on a charity farm in Hesperia CA that raises and distributes crops completely free of charge to those who are less fortunate. Recently we received a gift of a Ford 4500 industrial tractor that we feel could really help us retirees with some of the back-breaking grueling tasks (everything is now done with hand tools, a broken rototiller, and wheelbarrows). However, there are several problems with the tractor such as a leaky radiator, leaking hydraulic line, and irratic running. When we started searching for the cause of the running problem we found that the three fuel injectors had signicant internal rust. We want to replace these injectors (guess we'll all have to chip in from our Social Security checks), but we've also noted that there are gaskets on the injector-to-manifold seats. These gaskets (~1-1/4" i.d.) ave been completely permantexed with the old orange stuff and now very hard. We can't seem to find the gaskets on-line so we are hoping that someone can offer some counsel.
Thanks,
Don Gillespie
